I found these sales numbers on another board and thought I'd bring them over here. I guess these numbers aren't horrible for a jazz artist and he's not last on the list of the other idols. Maybe if some more people happen to stumble on "Red" while Christmas shopping, his numbers will go higher.

Big Grin Thanks Queen! Now that is news that we want to here. The sales! I see John is doing ok but if he was pushed into mainstream just a little with one or two songs, he would boost those sales dramatically. I know there are more Johnny fans out there? Where the hell are they? I can't believe that they don't know about RED? Yes, if each of his fans would just buy one cd for someone for X-MAS, it would be awesome for RED. I need to start a thread for this.

Very interesting! Some of those numbers really surprise me, though I think it's best not to elaborate as to not offend any fans......okay, I'll give one: I can't believe Corey Clarke bought 2142 copies of his own album! Eeker (j/k)

eta: geez! I forgot to comment on John's numbers...they look very respectable for being a jazz artist and not getting much promo or radio play on FM stations. Go John!

Very interesting Queen. He did better than I realized, and would be doing even better had Maverick got behind this album and promoted it. That's the saddest part of all, and again, with christmas coming he could have had a chance to do well. Kinda frustrating!

The world really has changed, the music industry is no longer driven by money and connections, it's driven by the mere words of random folks on a free message board. A grave lesson for us all

More griping on my part(hey, it's been a while)..it also irks me that some of the other contestants who did not sell as well as John are still on their labels, and still being backed by their labels and it appears Maverick gave John about 4 months. On top of that hardly any promotion.

*grumblegrumblegrumble*

For a while I was guessing his total sales to date were anywhere from 7-10 thousand sold.

I was kind of happy with the sales numbers, considering that a lot of people probably don't even know it's out there. He sold 11,000 more after his first week.

I'm still wondering what happened to the merchandising. I subscribe to George Huff's email list and I got an email today. He has a nice little store set up where you can get his merchandise. Very handy for the fans. (Forgive me for mentioning George in the John section, but it kinda relates).

That's why im so surprised Maverick seemed to just seemed to backing this album. I think John would be doing really decent now if they were still promoting. He sold a little over 4,000 cd's opening week, so I was not sure where he would go from there.

George has a nice site, and his label keeps the fans in the know.
