American Idol Star Elliott Yamin is releasing his first single "The Storm" as a benefit for Juvenile Diabetes and Katrina victims. After his surprising ouster from the competition, he finished recording this song, which he also co-wrote. It is unlike anything he did in the competition.

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) August 10, 2006 -- 2006 American Idol finalist Elliott Yamin is releasing his first single "The Storm" since the fan favorite was unexpectedly booted from the competition. This release marks Yamin's first creative effort as BOTH a vocal artist and co-writer. After his surprising ouster this past spring, soulful crooner Elliott and his best buddy producer/co-writer Terry "Big Planz" Thompson (www.soulloversentertainment.com) quietly spent time together in a recording studio, honing a project they had started long before. "The Storm" is the result of this collaboration.

"Now that "E's" deal is just about complete, the project we started working on pre-Idol can finally be released," said Big Planz. In 2005, the project was commissioned to raise money for a Hurricane Katrina Fund, but had to be shelved when Elliott got caught up in the American Idol "storm."

The single benefits the two lifelong friend's favorite charities. Twenty percent of all sales will go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and twenty percent will go to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund, 40 cents of every dollar sold.

"This is unlike anything E has sung publicly before, and it really shows off his voice," Thompson said. "Elliott carries 95 percent of the song," he added.
